Being here alone tonight with you, it feels so right.

Lucy had spotted the 'For Rent' sign in the window while on her way back from job-hunting, and it couldn't have come at a better time. They'd been discussing moving out of Sadie's place for weeks now - it wasn't the same since Max shipped out to Vietnam, even if everyone tried to pretend otherwise, and an apartment of their own would get them out of the atmosphere that everyone tried to pretend was normal. It wasn't a particularly big place, or too upscale, but it would fit the two of them; they wouldn't have been able to afford anything nices, and there was space enough that he could have a studio of sorts, while still not being too far from their friends.

So she brought Jude back to see it, after her initial look around, happier than she'd been since Max left at the prospect of them finally having their own place to live in. A wide grin was spreading over her face as they walked through the doorway, and pushing the door closed, she stepped close to him. "Well?" she asked, her eyebrows raised, standing on her toes to rest her chin and fold her hands over one of his shoulders. "What do you think?"

"Draw something where? Against the wall? We wouldn't want to get in trouble now, would we?" He had a devilish smirk as he thought of what to draw and rubbed his hands down the slight curves of her body. He loved the feel of her head in his neck.

He let go of Lucy and walked almost hypnotically towards the wall, surveying what he wanted it to be and what possibilities the wall held for art. Then just as he was going to begin painting, his trance was broken by a technicality. He turned to Lucy and laughed, "I have no paint."

With a smile, Jude took the pencil from her and examined it for a moment and then re-examined the wall. What stories the two combined could create.

He stood to the wall and placed the pencil gently against it, using it like a delicate paintbrush, and then exploded into drawing vigorously. What he was drawing was not clear, not even to him, but he was confident that beauty would shine through, confident that something would come of it.

He stood back from the picture on the wall and tilted his head a bit. Slowly his smile returned as he saw the guitar smothering in musical notes on his wall.

Jude continued to look at his work, with his hands in his pocket. As Lucy's lips touched his cheek, he turned to her and put his forehead against hers, his hair falling a bit forward. "It's christened, then. Its ours." He flashed her a toothy smile while wrapping his hands around her waist, staring intently into her eyes. This was all much more than he could have asked for, but it was everything he wanted.

He closed his eyes and rocked with her while dreaming of their home once more. Of the times they would have there, and imagined Max's reaction when he would return home. He had the overwhelming sense that everything was okay with the world and always would be. "Love, love, love."

He opened his eyes and pulled away for a second, just leaving a small space of air between them, but still holding onto her. Jude could hear her worry and feel it in her breath.

"Max will be okay, Lucy. I can't promise you, but I can tell you with confidence... Max won't leave us. He cant." He kissed her gently on the forehead and closed his eyes again, continuing with the swaying motion of their bodies.

Jude held her head close to his body. With his head ontop of hers, he whispered gently, "I know," the words were quiet and yet sincere, "I know." They both missed Max, a lot, and in a way, the new apartment meant they were letting go of Max. But the apartment was somwething they needed to get away from it all.

A bit louder he said, "But do you really think Max would want us to stay in our old place when we found this?" He himself didn't know the answer. They all loved Sadie and the rest of them, but it was too crowded and Lucy and him needed a place of their own. He pulled back and wiped any stray tears from her face.

He knew this, but he had no idea what to say. He kind of nodded, looking back at the picture and thrusting one hand into his pocket, the other one staying on her waist. Jude didn't like talking about it, although he did not really know why. He heaved a large sigh and turning back to her he spoke, "Let's go sign the papers." He shot her a weak smile, almost reassuring, but not fully. How could he reassure her if he was just as worried?
