Being here alone tonight with you, it feels so right.
Lucy had spotted the 'For Rent' sign in the window while on her way back from job-hunting, and it couldn't have come at a better time. They'd been discussing moving out of Sadie's place for weeks now - it wasn't the same since Max shipped out to Vietnam, even if everyone tried to pretend otherwise, and an apartment of their own would get them out of the atmosphere that everyone tried to pretend was normal. It wasn't a particularly big place, or too upscale, but it would fit the two of them; they wouldn't have been able to afford anything nices, and there was space enough that he could have a studio of sorts, while still not being too far from their friends.
So she brought Jude back to see it, after her initial look around, happier than she'd been since Max left at the prospect of them finally having their own place to live in. A wide grin was spreading over her face as they walked through the doorway, and pushing the door closed, she stepped close to him. "Well?" she asked, her eyebrows raised, standing on her toes to rest her chin and fold her hands over one of his shoulders. "What do you think?"

So he took Lucy by the hand and gently caressed her face, looking into those perfect eyes with deep affection. God, he loved her.
"It's perfect" He breathed, half talking about the apartment, and half about her.

He used his hand that was against her face to gently play around with stray pieces of her hair, her golden hair. They were the only two people on earth.

It was as close to perfect as it could be, anyway; they were together, they'd found a great place to live, enough to keep her worries about Max at bay. "I mean, it's not cheap, but I think I found a good job, and it should be enough to pay the rent for it."

"If the rent gets too heavy, I will find a job. I promise." The thought of it made him wince, but his promise was sincere. He let go of Lucy's face but keep her hand and began to look at the apartment more intently, this time looking at it as home.
"How do we get it?"

The thought of it was both amazing and a little depressing. He would miss Sadie and the others back in their old apartment, but he knew that something seemed missing there since Max went to Vietnam. The place didn't seem gloomy, per se, but it... well, he couldn't describe it, but it wasn't home. He placed Lucy down and gave her another kiss and felt like dancing at the thought of their new place. Their own new place, in New York, right next to Psychadel...something"

He stood to the wall and placed the pencil gently against it, using it like a delicate paintbrush, and then exploded into drawing vigorously. What he was drawing was not clear, not even to him, but he was confident that beauty would shine through, confident that something would come of it.
He stood back from the picture on the wall and tilted his head a bit. Slowly his smile returned as he saw the guitar smothering in musical notes on his wall.

He closed his eyes and rocked with her while dreaming of their home once more. Of the times they would have there, and imagined Max's reaction when he would return home. He had the overwhelming sense that everything was okay with the world and always would be. "Love, love, love."

"Max will be okay, Lucy. I can't promise you, but I can tell you with confidence... Max won't leave us. He cant." He kissed her gently on the forehead and closed his eyes again, continuing with the swaying motion of their bodies.

A bit louder he said, "But do you really think Max would want us to stay in our old place when we found this?" He himself didn't know the answer. They all loved Sadie and the rest of them, but it was too crowded and Lucy and him needed a place of their own. He pulled back and wiped any stray tears from her face.
