Jan. 8th, 2012 01:31 amThis wasn't the sort of thing that Lucy was good at. When it came to disappearances, she had far more experience than she liked, but mostly it was something she dealt with on her own, or at least let other people find her or whatever. Having to go around and spread the news, that part was kind of beyond her. This time, though, there was no getting around it. As far as she knew, Pete's social circle had never been especially large (thank God for small mercies, she thought), but there were still plans that had been made that now had to be broken and people who had to be told, one in particular who first came to mind.
She probably could have just waited until her next shift at the Winchester to deliver the news, spent the day sitting around the house as she had done the day before as well, after first finding out that Pete was gone at all. It didn't seem right, though, to drop that kind of bombshell in that kind of setting, where it had the most possibility to be disruptive. She sure as fuck wouldn't have wanted to find out that way, so impersonally. Neil deserved better than that. Hell, Neil was one of the few people she knew who'd been through maybe even more than she had where people leaving was concerned, and for that alone, she could stop thinking just about how this affected her for a little while.
By the time she made it to his door, she was exhausted and it showed. There wasn't really much point in trying to hide it, though, not like this. Briefly smoothing her hands over the skirt she wore — she couldn't wait until the island was back to normal, more than ready to be done with these ridiculous clothes — she lifted one to knock on his door, hoping that he was around and that this wasn't a bad time. Then again, if it wasn't, there was no real chance of that remaining the case, so maybe it didn't matter.
