There was an inexplicable relief in having him near her, and Lucy smiled again, more genuinely this time, her own hand settling just below his shoulder. He wouldn't have been touching her like that if he was about to break it off; there was no way. She may not have known him for an especially long time, but she knew him well enough to trust him implicitly in that respect. Really, she was sure that he would've told her sooner if it were ending, but that was all the reassurance she needed just then.
"Well, I'm okay now," she murmured, leaning into his touch. "This definitely beats walking miles in this sort of rain." She'd be lucky if she wasn't at least sniffling for the next couple of days, but she didn't want to start talking about anything else serious just then. It was too nice having his hands on her, knowing that, at least for the moment, they were alright.
