It was probably best for the both of them that he was turned away from her when he said it, as for a split second, the look on Lucy's face was one of sheer panic. She trusted Ryan, moreso than she thought she'd let herself trust anyone, especially so soon, but there still seemed to be an inherent threat there, even if he wasn't saying so. She composed herself quickly, though. Logically, reasonably, it was good that Marissa was there. Marissa being on the island meant that, at least somewhere, Marissa wasn't dead, and that was just what Ryan had wanted. Lucy just had to convince herself that it didn't necessarily mean that her relationship with Ryan was over.
"That - that'd be great, yeah," she stammered, a little forced, but a noble attempt at sounding cheerful all the same. She took a step closer, but stopped herself, just in case. If it was going to have to end, she wasn't sure she wanted to know yet. He'd told her she could stay there; if he was breaking it off, that wouldn't have made much sense. Still, she had to ask somehow. "Was, um... was she okay? Not hurt, or anything?"
